Getting around

Apres

On the slopes the Nederhutte is a key end-of-afternoon party venue, but as the lifts close and the crowds come off the slopes, the village of Obergurgl bursts into life, with the umbrella bar of the Edelweiss & Gurgl being the liveliest rendezvous spot of all.

Then everything calms down by 8.00pm or so as most people retire to their hotels for dinner.

Later on at night, the most lively venue is Krumpn’s Stadl, which has live music every other night.

Eating out

Since most visitors to Obergurgl are on half-board packages with hotels, not surprisingly the resort does not have much in the way of independent restaurants. The two outstanding ones are the Pic Nic and Krumpn’s Stadl, which is a huge rustic Tirolean barn.

The Pizzeria Belmonte in Haus Gurgl is the place to go for pizzas. The candlelit Edelweiss & Gurgl is the place to go for an elegant dinner with fine wines. Up the mountain the Nederhutte does good fondue party evenings, usually on Thursday.

Activities

Obergurgl offers a wide range of activities and facilities to keep everyone occupied on snowy days or for non-skiers to enjoy while the rest of their party hits the slopes!
The winter walking trails are extensive and well looked after and provide one of the best ways to see the stunning alpine scenery. Most of the trails run alongside cross-country tracks as cross-country skiing is extremely popular in the area.
