The Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Festival Returns to Battersea Park

For many keen skiers and snowboarders, it’s the event that kicks off the countdown to the winter ski season. We’re talking of course about the Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Festival, returning to London’s Battersea Park from the 25th – 28th October, 2018.

The Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Festival is the only exhibition dedicated entirely to snow sports in the UK, and, as ever, the organisers have put together a stellar line-up of exhibitions, displays, talks, demonstrations, and more. Whether you’ve bagged your ticket already or you’re considering heading down, here’s a little insight into what to expect.

Learn about your next ski destination

Resorts from Andorra to Zermatt come out in force at the ski show, keen to share information on their offerings to the snow-loving public. You can grab details on each resort’s travel and accommodation options, learn about their terrain and après ski scene, or simply chat to the representatives about the most popular resorts across Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland and more. Tour operators make a strong showing, too, with tempting competitions offering skiers and boarders the chance to win their next trip to the snow.

Catch the pros on Mount Battersea

Mount Battersea is a 50-foot kicker crafted especially for the ski show. Throughout the show’s four days of displays, you can watch pro-rider demonstrations and international competitions unfold live. The packed programme of events includes the British Freestyle Ski & Snowboard Championships, Jimmy's Big Air competition, and a brand new event hosted by clothing label Planks – featuring pro UK skier James ‘Woodsy’ Woods.

Check out the latest gear

Winter sports retailers line the walkways, showcasing their high-tech and stylish offerings. You can try on this season’s latest jackets, salopettes, boots and more, but more importantly, you can take a gander at the newest and sleekest skis and snowboards for winter 2018/19. There’s also a boot-fitting clinic to help ensure you hit the snow in complete comfort this winter.

Helpful tips to perfect your technique

In a first for the Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Festival, London’s largest indoor ski centre Chel-Ski will be on hand to help skiers and boarders sharpen their turns ahead of the winter ski season. Limited free taster sessions will take place on the artificial slope each day, offering learners and improvers the chance to practise with the professionals. Sessions will be run by Chel-Ski’s trained instructors, ensuring top-quality tuition for all levels of skier or snowboarder.

Kick back with a little après

The ski show’s après offerings have gone down well with the snow-loving public in recent years, and this year’s series of events is billed as bigger and better than ever. Hosted by DAVE and BBC presenters Tim Warwood and Adam Gendle, Friday 26th October will see the Famous First Words event on The Ski Club of Great Britain stage. Expect plenty of audience participation and a lot of out-of-tune singing! The Saturday evening session steps it up a gear, with 3-piece festival favourites Sunset Sons taking the stage to entertain the crowds.
