P-Middy Becomes Patron of DSUK

Disability Snowsports UK aims to help anyone and everyone — regardless of their physical capabilities or limitations — enjoy snow sports. To help them in this very worthy mission, a new patron has joined their ranks.

Over the last 30+ years, a number of charities working toward the same goal have joined forces under the Disability Snowsports UK name, and they’ve been working hard to raise money, awareness and spirits among keen snow-lovers the length and breadth of the UK.

From local clubs at the grassroots level and residential activity weeks in the mountains, all the way to the top of the sport at Paralympic athlete-level, Disability Snowsports UK is on hand with the support and encouragement people need.

If you’re new to DSUK, their mission statement encapsulates their work wonderfully:

To promote equality and opportunity for people with disabilities
to take part in snow sports, and to help improve their enjoyment
and standard of performance at the level of their choice.

In the latest news to come out of DSUK HQ, a brand new patron has been appointed in the form of avid skier Pippa Middleton. Pippa has been involved with DSUK for a number of years now, and her recent posting surely reflects the dedication she’s shown to their cause.

Pippa’s new role as patron was announced recently at the annual Parasnowball charity fund-raising dinner. The black-tie event — an evening of lucky-dip raffles, closely-contended auctions, inspiring speeches and direct donations that typically run into the tens of thousands — took place in the illustrious surroundings of London’s Hurlingham Club, with the great and the good of the UK ski industry in attendance.

So as winter 2015/16 comes to an end and Disability Snowsports UK takes on a brand new patron, it’s all eyes to the future. We hope that more keen snow-lovers than ever before will make it out onto the slopes, and that they enjoy the same exciting thrills and breathtaking views as able-bodied skiers. May Disability Snowsports UK continue their wonderful work this year and long into the future.
