The major French ski resorts pull out all the stops for New Year's Eve, with groups gathering in the streets for the seasonal countdown before heading back to the buzzing bars.

Courchevel enjoys four-day New Year celebrations that start as early as 28th December, with a series of theatre, performance, and open-air dance parties to enjoy.

Tignes will be recreating it’s famous open-air nightclub in Le Lac village for its New Year’s Eve Pop Rock Party – featuring skilled radio DJs and of course midnight fireworks.

In nearby Val d'Isère, bars and clubs each host their own celebrations with a strong crowd forming in the town centre. Be sure to duck your head and keep watch as Champagne corks shoot through the air!

Come New Year’s Eve in the French ski resort of Val Thorens, its ‘Val Tho Crazy Night’ – featuring a live concert, a torch-lit descent from the resort’s ski instructors, a freestyle show and children's entertainment in Place Caron.

Verbier hosts New Year’s Eve with a DJ in the central square from 4pm until dawn, with a live concert at 10.30pm and, of course, fireworks at midnight. With the mountain peaks setting the scene for the fireworks spectacular, the atmosphere is electric!

St Anton flies the flag perfectly for New Year's Eve in Austria, as crowds form in town centre to enjoy DJs, fireworks and a Champagne countdown. Afterwards, take your pick among the resorts legendary après ski spots for revelry into the morning hours!

Pretty Ischgl takes a traditional take on New Year’s Eve, with a live broadcast of the pealing of Vienna's Pummerin Bell at midnight followed by the Danube Waltz. As the clock strikes midnight, fireworks explode from five different spots around town as live music fills the streets.
