Family Ski HOLIDAYS
Family Holiday Suggestions
Travelling with children can seem daunting especially if it’s their first trip but by choosing the right resort, accommodation and childcare will ensure that you have a perfect hassle free holiday.
Skiing with infants
If you are travelling with infants and don’t have a non-skiing carer in the group then it is likely that you will need to book some childcare. Most resorts will have a local crèche however families generally prefer to book with a tour operator who run a crèche with English speaking staff and offer similar style care to that you would receive in the UK.
Skiing with toddlers
Toddlers are at the age when they might want to try out skiing for themselves but as they will likely not need a fully day on the slopes, childcare is still a major consideration. Several UK operators offer supervised activities during the day to fit around ski school with staff able to take the children to and from the lessons each day allowing parents to enjoy the slopes.
Skiing with children
As children get older, they may want to ski all day in lessons or with the family, or you may want to also consider childcare options.
At Interactive Resorts, we work with a range of UK Tour operators of can offer both childcare and ski lessons in resort.

Best family resorts
Top things to consider for families to help choose the right resort:
When to go
Most families will be restricted to travelling during school holiday which are Christmas, New Year, February Half Term and Easter Break. These are peak weeks so are the most popular and expensive of the season. Easter is generally cheaper than Half Term and the weather will be warmer with longer daylight hours
.
For peak dates, it is recommended to book in advance as these do sell out earlier especially if you are a big group.
For families with pre-school age children, it is recommended to avoid the school dates as the slopes will be quieter and travel and accommodation prices are lower.
Availability of childcare and ski school
It is very likely that you will want to put the children in ski school or need to organise childcare for them so it is important that you choose a resort with plenty of options available and that you book in advance in order to secure your place.
Easy access to the slopes
The location of your accommodation is key to ensure a hassle free journey to and from the slopes each day. It is advisable to book a chalet with ski in/ski out access or a very short (and ideally flat!) walk to the piste.
Alternatively, booking a chalet with a driver service can be ideal. It is important to note that not all driver services are consistent so it may be that you have a chalet with a dedicated driver or one that is shared over a few chalets.
Suitability of slopes
The ski area is obviously a huge factor when choosing the right resort. You are going to want to pick a resort with a good beginner area as well as some intermediate slopes for those who want to try something more challenging.
Short airport transfer
Generally children do not travel well especially on long mountain roads so it is advisable to choose a resort in close proximity to an airport to avoid any long and tedious journeys.
Non-skiing activities
Children may not want to ski all day and families may want to split their time between the slopes and non-skiing activities so you may want to consider going to a resort where there is more to do than just ski.
