France Ski Accommodation in Megeve, France

Situated in beautiful Mont Blanc country, the resort of Megève is full of charm, elegance and genuine French ambience.

The medieval village centre is rich in history, focused on the church and town hall.

Narrow streets are lined with small shops and boutiques surround the main square.

The traffic free centre allows non-skiers to stroll safely through the streets or to sit at one of the many cafes to enjoy the relaxing village atmosphere.

The ski area divides itself between 135 pisted runs and scenic off piste trails.
The meandering tree lined slopes, sunny bowls, challenging mogul fields and powder runs make the area a popular choice for the leisurely skier.

In addition to Megève, the lift pass covers neighbouring St Gervais, Saint Nicolas and Combloux. With 300km of pistes and 79 ski lifts, Megève caters for all standards and ages of skier.

This stylish resort is renowned for it's jazz clubs, piano bars and gourmet restaurants.

Today there are restaurants offering varying cuisine, bars to suit everyone's tastes and a casino to try your luck in.

Eating out

Megeve was once the fancy ski destination to visit in France, before the likes of Val d’Isere and Courchevel popped up and took over. But the village centre is still quaint and charming and the resort boasts a number of high quality hotels, which means you’re not short of good places to dine out. The selection of mountain restaurants is good too. Take a look at a selection of our favourites below...

Le Flocon de Sel
With three Michelin stars, you should expect to be blown away by the gastronomic feasts served up at the Flocon de Sel restaurant. The staff go the extra mile and are highly attentive, providing you with a superb level of service. The menu is created by the fabulous Emmanuel Renaut and is beautifully presented, but at €85 for ‘La Promenade’ which is the lunch time menu, this is certainly for special occasions!

This is one of the best mountain restaurants in Megeve. The interior is rustic with dark stained, timber clad walls, with leather chairs and a large fireplace, whilst the exterior has a huge sun terrace with panoramic views of the mountain. On the menu is a mix of traditional French dishes including steak tartare and fois gras, though the meals are by no means cheap, at around €20 for entree and €30 for the plats du Jour. This place is popular and booking is essential.

Chez Tante Alice
If you’re looking for a traditional Savoyarde meal, head to the charming Chez Tante Alice where they serve all the favourites such as tartiflette, fondue and charcuterie. Somewhat bizarrely, they also specialise in Far Eastern dishes and you can get a good quality stir-fry and other Oriental dishes at moderate prices.

Not everyone heading to Megeve has the bank balance for Michelin starred dinners and lunches, so a packed lunch could be on the cards or you could head to the resort’s very own McDonalds!

Group Ski

Megeve is very popular with families and the resort certainly looks after them well which has been recognised by the ‘Famille Plus Montagne’ award. With a good choice of nursery slopes and green runs which run into town it’s easy for youngsters and with the improved sports centre there is plenty to do for those who want to keep active off the slopes!

Ice Skating
If ice skating is your thing, then you are spoilt for choice in Megeve. The resort has its own indoor and outdoor rinks. The indoor ice rink is Olympic sized and open daily; sessions often have music and there is the occasional ice hockey match too. The outdoor rink is child-friendly with chairs and balance penguins available for extra stability. Sessions start from around €4 per person.

Dog Sledding
This is a perfect experience for both children and parents. If it’s an adrenaline rush you’re looking for or just want to get up close and personal with nature then this is the sightseeing tour to do! The huskies are based in Mount North Villard which is a peaceful location, but be warned it’s a bit off the beaten track, with a 20 minute uphill walk to the start point! A one hour tour starts from €65 for adults and €40 for children.

Freestyle Airbag
For all the adrenaline junkies out there looking to progress their freestyle skills, the freestyle airbag at the Petit Rochebrune chairlift is the perfect place to attempt that 360! The bag is especially designed for skiers and snowboarders and provides a safer way of practising airborne tricks. It’s popular with the teenagers, but younger ones can use it as long as parents give permission. For nervous parents, the ESF offer supervised training sessions to ensure safe use of the equipment.
The Waidzai Park is also worth a visit and even the parents might want to try out the winding rollers on the boarder cross!

Swimming pool
Megeve also boasts an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. The indoor section is 25m long and opens out onto an Olympic sized outdoor pool. In the off-peak season, the full area (Evasion Mont Blanc) ski pass will allow you unlimited access to the sports centre so you can use the ice rink and swimming pool as much as you want.
